MDI - Why is this important?

HR3 Payroll is a Multiple Document Interface (MDI) application. Most applications are developed using a Single Document Interface (SDI). HR3 Payroll has been developed as an MDI application so the end user has the option to open multiple screens at the same time. There are many end-user benefits when a MDI application is being used. For instance, think about the number of times you’ve had to close a window to go and check something else and then repeat the process to get back to where you were originally; this doesn’t happen in HR3 Payroll. The screen shot above shows several HR3 Payroll functions and screens open at the same time.
Benefits;
  • Run multiple reports at the same time for comparison purposes without having to print out a hard copy
  • Move from the Payrun screen to an Employee screen to make a change and then immediately return to the same point in the Payrun screen
  • Answer an employee’s enquiry without having to close your current task
